It was shaping up to be one of the greatest tries the NRL had ever seen. But, typically, it just wasn't to be.
Blake Ferguson grabbed headlines when he defied the laws of physics during a game against Wests Tigers at Bankwest Stadium in July.
His name began trending, the incredible pictures went viral and the video itself, well, it's something to behold.
The Parramatta Eels winger went completely airborne on his way to scoring an emphatic try from the tightest of angles.

Video and still images captured Ferguson's insane athleticism and acrobatics as he somehow managed to ground the ball despite being knocked off balance by the recovering Tigers defender.
Keeping his feet off the ground while fixed in midair, Ferguson then reached down between his legs and maintained possession of the ball - much to everyones disbelief.
After picking himself up from the ground, the New South Wales State of Origin star pointed his finger to the roaring Parramatta crowd in celebration as he was mobbed by his Eels teammates.
But things weren't as they seemed.

Upon review, the Bunker ruled out the try for a knock-on during the build-up.
The fact that Ferguson wasn't rewarded for his efforts doesn't take away from just how impressive the moment of magic was.
Ferguson's skill was captured beautifully by NRL photographer Gregg Porteous. Check out how the moment unfolded through his pictures below!
