Fans are divided as to whether Tino Fa'asuamaleaui's blindside shot on Josh Addo-Carr was fair game or not.

Queensland's bulldozing forward absolutely flattened the New South Wales winger, hitting him directly in the back with a huge tackle.

Blues speedster Addo-Carr was caught in a rather awkward position when he was tackled by Melbourne Storm teammate Christian Welch as he was trying to break through the Queensland defence with a jinking run.

As Welch wrapped him up, he kept backing into the defensive line which left his entire back exposed.

Attempting to help out Welch in tackle, Fa'asuamaleaui came rushing in and made heavy contact with Addo-Carr's back which sent him crashing to the Cbus Super Stadium turf.

Addo-Carr's head appeared to rattle back upon impact too.

The New South Wales star looked in obvious pain as he lay motionless on the ground while receiving immediate medical attention.

The hit itself is perfectly within the rules of the game, although it did seem to spark debate among rival fans on social media.

When NRL On Nine posted video of the incident on their social media accounts, rugby league supporters flocked to the comments section to have their say.

One bloke commented: "Cheap shot."

While another took a different stance, adding: "There should be more of that, stop blokes backing into defensive lines. Good hit."

Thankfully Addo-Carr showed no signs of injury after dusting himself off to continue playing.
