It has been a nightmare season for the Brisbane Broncos.

And their 32-16 loss at the hands of the North Queensland Cowboys last night meant they picked up the NRL's wooden spoon for the first time in the club's history.

It meant that Broncos veteran Darius Boyd would have to finish his 337-game NRL career on a demoralising defeat.

That being said, at least one good thing did come out of yesterday's proceedings.

Darius Boyd was congratulated by his teammates after the big reveal.

in the wake of their defeat to local rivals North Queensland, Boyd did a lap of honour around Suncorp Stadium in front of the loyal Broncos fans.

After being clapped off by the supporters, Boyd joined his fellow teammates in the middle of the field to conduct a gender reveal for his unborn baby.

Using a fake ball filled with either pink or blue powder, Boyd positioned himself in the middle of the pack as his teammates linked arms around him.

The 33-year-old then booted the ball into the air and it instantly shattered to reveal the bright pink powder.

Boyd was then congratulated by his Broncos teammates as they hugged and embraced him.

But not everyone was happy.

While others shared their happiness for the 28-time Queensland State of Origin representative, others were less impressed.

Some Brisbane-based supporters took to social media to slam Boyd and the team for doing the gender reveal, insisting that it shouldn't have been done just moments after the team collected the wooden spoon.
