The social media team for the New South Wales Blues, we salute you.

In the wake of the team's historic Origin-clinching victory over Queensland last night, the Blues took aim at their inter-state rivals by posting a genius graphic of trash-talking star Jarome Luai.

The post depicts pantomime villain Luai sitting on a huge thrown with a crow place upon his head.

Above him is a framed picture of the iconic photograph taken during State of Origin Game 1 where he shouted in the face of grounded Maroons rival Felise Kaufusi - an image that has achieved legendary status in New South Wales but is hated around Queensland.

When the image emerged in the wake of Game 1, Queenslanders voiced their displeasure with it and urged their side to exact revenge in Game 2.

And, well, we all know that didn't exactly go to plan.

After New South Wales' victory in State of Origin Game 1, Blues five-eighth Luai was officially public enemy number one in Queensland.

The Penrith Panthers star clearly rubbed Maroons fans (and even former players) the wrong way with his trash-talking during games.

So entering Game 2, he definitely had a rather large target on his back.

But like the great player he is, Luai rose to the occasion and helped guide the Blues to a historic 26-0 victory on foreign soil - a win that condemned Queensland to their first ever zero pointer at Suncorp Stadium.

But while the likes of James Tedesco and Latrell Mitchell will take all the plaudits for their individual performances, Luai's gritty defence and frightening offence was still pivotal in making New South Wales tick.

"Luai was probably the only player in that backline that had the question mark over him heading in," Fox League's Braith Anasta said after the clash.

"'Is he good enough? Is he ready for Origin? Can he take that club footy to the Origin arena?'

"It's not a question now."

Former Queensland Origin star Cooper Cronk clearly agreed, adding: "He's a lock for New South Wales for a number of years to come."
