Hull FC star Andre Savelio has alleged that he was racially abused by Wigan prop Tony Clubb.

Savelio, who was signed with the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL for two seasons, claims Clubb called him a "stupid Polynesian c**t" during their Super League game.

New Zealand-born Savelio, who is of Samoan descent, flagged the incident at the time and it was subsequently put on report by the match referee James Child.

After the game finished, Savelio released a damning statement on social media to give his side of the story.

"Listen there's no reason at all for me to lie, I didn't report it initially as I was going to deal with it myself the next time we came into contact, he got taken off the play after and never came back on," he tweeted.

"For him to call me a 'Stupid Polynesian c**t' in a game where 30 per cent are of that heritage, hell I won't sit quietly, I've seen these happen enough to know most of the time there's never enough proof on these - but I swear it on my mum's.

"I'm just hopeful a camera or microphone clocked it and it's dealt with."

Wigan went on to win the clash, but the game was marred by this ugly incident.

Even Wigan head coach Adrian Lam refused to comment on the serious allegations made against his player.

"I got the news, but I have no comment at the moment until we get to the bottom of what the allegation actually is," Lam said in his post-match press conference.

"As a club, we will follow protocol and see how it unfolds in the next 24 hours.

"It's a hard one to comment on when I don't know what has actually been said or what the allegation is."

As for Savelio's Hull coach Brett Hodgson, he simply described the incident as "very disappointing."

It's understood the moment is currently being reviewed by the Rugby Football League's match review panel with charges expected to be laid if Clubb is found guilty.
