New details have come to light regarding the sudden death of Australian Winer Olympian Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya with the 20-year-old skater's coach confirming that she fell from a window in Moscow, Russia.

The two-time national champion's death has rocked the sporting world with tributes already pouring in.

Now, Alexandrovskaya's coach Andrei Khekalo has told AFP that she fell from a sixth-floor window in central Moscow.

While there was no official statement from Russia authorities following the tragic death, local media claimed Alexandrovskaya had left a note reading "Lyublyu" which means "I love..." leading many to suggest the incident could have been a suicide.

Khekalo also revealed that Alexandrovskaya had recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and depression.

Alexandrovskaya's skate partner Harley Windsor took to social media, saying: "Words can not describe how I feel right now, I am devastated and sick to my core about the sad and sudden passing of Katia."

"The amount we had achieved during our partnership is something I can never forget and will always hold close to my heart. This news is something you can never prepare for. Rest In Peace Katia."

Born and raised in Moscow, Alexandrovskaya later switched her skating allegiances to Australia when she was overlooked by the highly-competitive Russian system.

And in December 2015 she began skating with Windsor - who later went on to became the first Indigenous athlete to compete in a Winter Olympics.

After getting her Aussie citizenship in October 2017, Alexandrovskaya and Windsor represented Australia a year later at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The duo most notably clinched gold in the World Junior Championships in Taipei in 2017.
