19-Year-Old Ice Hockey Player Timur Faizutdinov Sadly Dies After Being Hit In The Head By Puck

The ice hockey community has rallied behind the talented youngster.

Promising Russian ice hockey star Timur Faizutdinov has sadly passed away after being struck in the head by a stray puck.

He was just 19 years old.

The tragic incident occurred during Dynamo St. Petersburg's game against Loko Yaroslavl when team captain Faizutdinov collapsed on the ice after taking the blow to his temple.

He was rushed to a local hospital but died shortly after arriving.

Faizutdinov's sudden death sent shockwaves around the global ice hockey community, with Dynamo St. Petersburg taking to social media to share their condolences.

"Dynamo Saint Petersburg defenseman Timur Faizutdinov has tragically passed away at the age of 19," the team said in a statement.

"He had received a fatal head injury during an MHL match against Loko in Yaroslavl on March 12.

"SKA Hockey Club extends its deepest condolences to Timur's family and friends."

Upon hearing the devastating news, people flocked to social media to pay tribute to the teenager while also reaching out to the other player who shot the puck.

One Twitter user said: "This is horrible. Just way too young and it such an innocent looking play. I feel for the kid who shot the puck. I hope he knows its not his fault and they get him whatever help he may need. Condolences to the family of this young man."

While another added: "Terrible news. Condolences to his family and friends. Hoping the player who shot the puck gets the support he may need as well. Tragic accident."

And even NHL giants the Las Vegas Golden Knights sent a kind message, tweeting: "The Golden Knights keep Timur and his family in our hearts during this difficult time."

Sad, sad news.
