It's the backyard match-up that probably happened on most evenings after dinner in the Wade household.

But now that Dwyane is long retired and Zaire is a lot older, it's definitely becoming a more competitive game as time goes on.

That's right, NBA legend Dwyane Wade went toe-to-toe with his son Zaire in a game of one-on-one.

And even though the game was tight, there was only going to be one winner.

Zaire is one of the hottest high school basketball prospects in the country, and even though his father has a 16-year NBA career and three championship rings to his name, the youngster didn't back down.

18-year-old Zaire took to social media to share a highlights video of the one-on-one against his dad and while Dwyane looked like he had the upper hand due to his sheer size advantage, Zaire did show glimpses of brilliance.

But while the incredible skillsets on show were interesting to watch, perhaps the best part of the video was the constant trash talk between the two.

At one point, Miami Heat icon Dwyane scored on his son but then proceeded to taunt him about his height before staring him down in front of those spectating.

This seemed to light a little fire in Zaire who blocked a shot on the following play before engaging in a war of words with his old man.

"Wow, you won on post ups, congratulations," Zaire said once the game had finished.

"You're 240 (pounds). Play me on jumpers (jump shots) and see what happens."

But Dwyane quickly bit back.

He replied: "Boy I don't play all jumper, I've never played that game of basketball. Go back and watch."

Zaire is currently playing for Brewster Academy and has received a number of offers from Division I schools.

But while he's still undecided on where his future lies, this clip certainly proves that the hype is real and he's continuing to learn from one of the best to ever grace a basketball court.
