Colby Covington is never too far away from a controversial headline.

And the outspoken UFC welterweight will certainly grab people's attention with his latest stunt.

The Donald Trump super-fan has well and truly embraced the bad boy role since his rebirth in mixed martial arts.

And while he's not running through rivals with his relentless style, Covington remains very vocal on social media.

Often seen sporting a 'Make America Great Again' hat to accompany his poorly-tailored suits, 32-year-old Covington has made no secret of the fact that he's a devout Trump supporter.

But on top of that, he's recently taken aim at a number of high-profile athletes who have openly criticised the US President - including LeBron James.

It's safe to say that the NBA superstar isn't the biggest Trump fan - and that doesn't sit well with Trump's number one supporter.

Covington has now fired shots at the recently-crowned NBA champion via Instagram, all while wearing a 'F*** LEBRON' t-shirt.

"Congratulations are in order for my good buddy, LeBron James," Covington said in the video.

"Congrats LeBron on setting the record for the least-watched NBA finals in history.

"You wish you could blame it on the pandemic but everybody's just sick of your woke bulls***.

"And while the NBA's ratings are going down, the UFC's are going up. Just like our bank accounts."

While his mouth does plenty of talking outside of the octagon, it's Covington's performances inside it that has put him within touching distance of another welterweight title shot.

Since his defeat to Kamaru Usman in December, Covington has put himself back in championship contention following his dominant win over former champ Tyron Woodley.

And, unsurprisingly, Covington had plenty to say in his post-fight interview with UFC commentator Jon Anik.

"I want to dedicate this fight to all the first responders, all the military out there," Covington said while draped in an American flag.

"This world would not be safe without you guys, you keep us safe, and not these woke athletes. I'm sick of these spineless cowards like LeBron James."
