Like the rest of us, Israel Adesanya couldn't help but laugh after hearing Paulo Costa's latest excuse as to why he blew his middleweight title shot back in September.
The Brazilian powerhouse recently took to YouTube to suggest he was hungover when facing Adesanya as a result of hitting the bottle the night before their fight in an attempt to fall asleep quicker.
So being the prankster he is, Adesanya reacted to the statement the only way he knew how - by ripping into his rival at any opportunity he got.
Ahead of his light heavyweight title fight against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259, Nigerian-born New Zealander was being follow around by the UFC Embedded camera crew who capture moments of the fighters in the build up to their bouts.
And in one clip on the latest episode, middleweight champ Adesanya hilariously mocked Costa for his poor 'hangover' excuse.
"We're gonna be smuggling these back to New Zealand, just so you know," he said while carrying a case of liquor through the athlete hotel in Las Vegas.
"A little night cap, or we can drink some before the fight like Costa? Oh, I can't sleep."
He then pretended to down the entire bottle while stumbling around.
"I can't sleep, I can't sleep," he added.
Ever since his demoralising defeat in arguably one of the most one-sided title fights in UFC history, Costa hasn't shied away from making any excuse under the sun.
But this latest one is perhaps his most outrageous.
Genuinely suggesting that he downed a whole bottle of wine after struggling to fall asleep the night before his big fight has got to be up there as one best (or worst depending on how you look at it) excuses an athlete can make.
And after initially seeing the amusing side of it like the rest of us, Adesanya actually offered the former number one contender some words of wisdom.
"That's just funny," Adesanya told MMA Junkie.
"There's certain things I've done before some of my fights in the past where I learnt my mistakes, but I went in and got my job done. Some people aren't cut out for that lifestyle."
"I'll tell you one thing: The best thing to do in his position is accept the fact he lost. He got his ass whooped. The fact that he keeps trying to make all these excuses, it's only going to do him worse in the long run. He's making excuses because his ego can't handle the fact that 'The Skinny Clown' whooped his ass badly then double-tapped him twice.
"Just swallow your ego. You got your ass whooped. Get back to the drawing board and reassess your whole game. You can't just rest on that because if you do - this is my advice - you'll never get far in life, or in this game."
