Conor McGregor has produced one of the most iconic first pitches in MLB history - although it was for all the wrong reasons.

The Irishman may possess one of the deadliest left hands in the world, but he should probably stick to punching with it rather than throwing with it.

The UFC megastar was at Wrigley Field to conduct the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins.

But instead of casually strolling up to the mound and and effortlessly tossing the ball into Patrick Wisdom's waiting glove, McGregor provided viewers with something else entirely.

Dressed up in an extremely-tight grey suit, McGregor clearly couldn't pull his arm back far enough as he was winding up to throw the ball.

As he released his attempt, the ball sailed high and wide into the back fencing and came agonisingly close to hitting a bunch of fans who were watching on.

The uncoordinated toss was so far off target that the camera had to zoom out and move to the right in order to actually capture it.

Without getting too ahead of ourselves, it's arguably worse than 50 Cent's attempt at the New York Mets' Citi Field a few years back.

While the rapper's throw from 2014 did bounce a couple of time and trickle off behind home plate, it was perhaps more accurate than McGregor's showing - and that's saying something.

When Fox Sports MLBs' official Twitter account posted footage of the hilarious moment online, fans wasted no time in flocking to the comments section to rip into the Irishman.

One social media user replied: "Conor playing catch with 50 Cent on pay per view."

While another added: "It's the suit, that's why."

Elsewhere, Barstool Sports shared the clip with the caption: "Conor McGregor JUST a bit outside."

Brutal, absolutely brutal.

The 32-year-old, who is still recovering from his devastating leg break from UFC 264, has been doing his annual tour of US sporting events.

Only a few days ago McGregor was in attendance to watch the Dallas Cowboys' 20-17 victory of the Los Angeles Chargers where he was given a huge reception from the supporters inside SoFi Stadium.

If you remember correctly, it was only a few years ago that McGregor made headlines once again for a poor attempt at launching a football down field at the AT&T Stadium prior to a Cowboys game.

His technique with throwing the pig skin was pretty poor, although his technique with throwing a baseball is arguably worse.
