"I wouldn't be standing there right now. As soon as I hit the ball I'm outta there."
Those are the wise words of one of the commentators who was on hand to witness something truly scary at the RBC Heritage over the weekend.
Everyone watching on the 15th hole at the South Carolina tournament held their collective breath after noticing something moving in the water just behind star golfer Collin Morikawa.

The 2020 PGA Championship winner was lining up to take a shot next to the course's lake when an alligator appeared just a matter of metres from where he was standing.
Completely unaware of the creature lurking behind him, Morikawa casually played his shot from the water's edge and actually managed to chip the ball onto the green.
Had he of known exactly what was virtually breathing down his neck, then it might not have been the same outcome.
"This would have me... a little twitchy," one of the commentators said.

Footage of the moment spread like wildfire on social media with golf fans and herpetophobics alike sharing how petrified they'd be if they were in Morikawa's shoes.
That being said, all of this fuss could have been avoided if Morikawa had bothered to look at the sign right next to the lake.
"Please do not feed or disturb the alligators," it simply read
