The five-star hotel where Lionel Messi lives has been broken into with thieves stealing thousands of euros worth of money and expensive jewellery.

According to reports, the masked gang somehow got onto the roof of Le Royal Monceau before scaling down the outside of the building and entering through an unlocked balcony door.

CCTV footage shows two masked men breaking in on the sixth floor - just one floor above Messi's family suite, which reportedly costs £17,000-a-night to stay in.

Thankfully for the PSG megastar, his room where he and his family are living was left untouched by the robbers.

The same couldn't be said for the rest of the swanky hotel though, with four rooms allegedly targeted.

Even with tightened security measures following Messi's arrival, the hotel was unable to stop the robbers from walking away with a pocket full of cash and expensive jewellery.

It's understood one of the victims was a financial advisor on a business trip from Dubai.

After leaving her room for the evening, she returned the next morning to discover that her £3,000 gold necklace, £500 earrings and £2,000 cash was missing.

"To pay a fortune for somewhere fancy and secure and have someone walk in your room is very disturbing. The police told us they saw two men with a bag on the roof on CCTV cameras but they could not identify them," the woman told reporters.

"They said three other robberies were also reported. A Moroccan guy in the next room told me he had his watch stolen."

Local police have now launched an official investigation into the incident, asking for witnessed or anyone with vital information to come forward.

"There has clearly been a very serious security breach and it's being investigated. There is evidence to suggest an experienced gang was responsible," authorities told The Sun.
