Conor McGregor Has Expressed Interest In Buying Manchester United

It comes after the club's share prices plummeted following the proposed European Super League switch.

The European Super League is done.

Ed Woodward has officially resigned.

The Glazer owners are more hated than ever.

And Manchester United's share prices have plummeted.

Seems like a pretty appropriate time for someone new and exciting to walk straight through the Old Trafford doors, right?

Enter, Conor McGregor.

The UFC megastar has hinted at buying Premier League giants Manchester United after a frantic 48 hours resulted in executive vice-chairman Woodward stepping down and the club somewhat tarnishing its reputation and brand.

"Hey guys," McGregor tweeted.

"I'm thinking about buying Manchester United! What do you think?"

The social media post instantly gained traction with over 300,000 users liking it.

On top of that, around 15,000 people commentated to confess their undying support for the mixed martial arts fan favourite's proposed business venture.

Whether it actually happens remains to be seen, but judging by Manchester United's drastic drop in share prices then now could be the perfect chance for McGregor to dump some money into the club.

This news comes after the sudden rise (and even quicker demise) of the infamous European Super League.

Fans across the globe were left fuming when six Premier League teams, the Red Devils being one of them, announced their plans to join the propose Super League alongside three Italian and three Spanish clubs.

The decision was immediately met with uproar from supporters and pundits as well as current and former players.

A simple case of money-hungry clubs with no regard for the fans was how it was branded.

But in the space of two short days, all six clubs completely backflipped on their original decisions and it appears the billion-dollar Super League idea is now a distant memory.

For the fans and players, we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

But for someone like McGregor, he sees dollar signs - and plenty of them.

It wouldn't be the first time the Irishman has cashed in on a business ploy outside of the octagon.

It was announced earlier this year that McGregor's Proper No. 12 whiskey label had been sold to popular tequila company Jose Cuervo with reports suggesting the UFC star owned an 80 per cent stake in the AU$310million firm.

An incredible piece of business, made all the more impressive by the fact it's less than three years old.

McGregor has certainly proved himself to be a solid entrepreneur down the years, but if he can pull off a move to purchase part of Manchester United then he'll almost certainly become one of the greatest sportsmen-turned-businessman in history.

Also, just imagine the publicity he'd bring to a globally-recognised club like United.
