It's not often that Cristiano Ronaldo misses the target with one of his shots.

But when he does, the sheer power behind them means they must hurt if one were to hit you.

Well, that's exactly what happened to one unfortunate bystander, who was struck in the head by one of Ronaldo's wayward shots while he was warming up ahead of Manchester United's Champions League clash with Young Boys.

During a shooting drill, one of CR7's efforts was blasted over the bar and rifled into one of the stadium stewards.

The female staff member was decked by the ferocious strike and immediately received medical attention.

Seeing this, Ronaldo stopped his warm-up session and leapt over the arena barriers to check on the woman.

In various clips posted online, the Manchester United megastar can be seen apologising to the steward and taking the time to make sure she was alright.

The 36-year-old, clearly feeling a tad guilty, eventually returned to the pitch and continued with his pregame warm-up with his teammates.

But his interactions with the woman were far from done.

Incredibly, Ronaldo then gifted the steward his match-worn shirt at full-time.

Photographs were posted on social media, showing the woman grinning from ear-to-ear upon receiving the heartwarming gift.

It was a lovely moment in what was otherwise a nightmare outing for Manchester United.

The Red Devils, fresh off the back of a big Premier League win over Newcastle at the weekend, ended up slumping to a 2-1 loss at the hands of Swiss underdogs Young Boys.

Ronaldo did manage to bag a goal but was controversially subbed off by boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer - much to the confusion of the United faithful.
