Indian Cricket Team's Touching Gesture To Nathan Lyon On His 100th Test Match

It's already being dubbed as one of the greatest test matches in cricket history.

Injury-ravaged India ended up clinching the thrilling series against Australia following their last-gasp run chase on the final day.

It was a thoroughly-deserved victory and one that will live long in the memory of Indian cricket fans.

And while the performance on the pitch was as professional as it gets, they remained equally as classy during their celebrations off it.

With the buzzing team just minutes away from lifting the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Ajinkya Rahane produced a heart-warming gesture that proves why the team is so adored by the cricket community.

During his speech, the skipper took the time to present Aussie spin bowler Nathan Lyon with a jersey signed by the entire Indian team.

The touching gift was to pay tribute to Lyon's 100th Test match.

"We'd like to thank our fans who came here and supported us - it really means a lot," Rahane said after the game.

"From the Indian team we would like to give Nathan Lyon a signed jersey for his 100th Test match."

The gesture received a round of applause from fans inside The Gabba as others took to social media to praise the classy move.

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman tweeted: "Excellent gesture from @ajinkyarahane88 and the Indian team to Felicitate Nathan Lyon on his 100th Test Match. One more example of Sportsman Spirt from Rahane. How dignified he is even after achieving such an incredible win."

We often praise sports stars for being gracious in defeat, but when they're just as gracious in victory it really shows what kind of individual they are.

And the Indian cricket team lead by Rahane proved themselves to be a classy act as always.
