For whatever reason, it's not too often you see sports stars deliver incredible interviews just minutes after they've competed.

But in the rare times it does happen, it makes us sports tragics well and truly fall in love with said athlete.

And that's exactly what has happened in the case of Stevie Spark.

After going eight gruelling rounds with number one ranked welterweight Jack Brubaker, 24-year-old Spark still managed to produce a post-fight interview worthy of some applause.

Despite getting dropped by the hard-hitting Brubaker in the very first round, Spark soldiered on to clinch a huge victory on points.

With Brubaker heading into the bout as the bookies' favourite, the result is arguably the biggest win of Spark's young career.

And when he was handed the microphone during his post-fight interview with Main Event, he left boxing fans even more impressed than what they already were.

"Bit of a rough start there with a knockdown but we knew what Jack was going to bring, he's a hard puncher and a very hard worker," he said.

"We prepared very hard for this fight... I can't thank my manager and my team enough.

Sparks then took the time to thank everyone for their support - and we mean everyone, including the live crowd down in Wollongong.

He said: "To the fans here, this was unreal. I've never done anything like this so it's unbelievable. Thanks for cheering us on.

"I've got so many people behind me. My sponsors and supporters back home, I'm a proud Toowoomba boy so thank you to everyone back home for supporting me - it's unbelievable.

"Whether you were cheering on Brubaker or me tonight, I just wanna say that makes me so happy because there's six thousand people here cheering on the sport that I love.

"I just ask if everyone in Australia can get behind me and support me on my world title quest.

"I'm a fan fighter. I stepped up a weight division to get this fight. I couldn't get any fights at super lightweight, I had to step up to Jack's weight and take this fight so all respect to him, but I think that shows the calibre of fighters that me and Jack are. We're taking on the hard fights. We're fan fighters and we just want to give the fans the fights they need."

Classy stuff from the 24-year-old.

Boxing fans on social media were full of praise for Spark but broadcasters Main Event went one step further by labelling him "the nicest man in Australia."
