Anthony Mundine Reckons He Can Still Win Another Boxing World Title

The 45-year-old says a win against Michael Zerafa in March will put him "back in the game".

At 45 years of age, not many people are fond of the idea of Anthony Mundine even stepping foot inside a ring again.

But Choc has other ideas.

Despite being warned away by legendary Aussie boxing coach Jeff Fenech, it seems the former rugby league star is going ahead with his comeback - regardless of what anyone else thinks.

After months of talks, Aussie icon Mundine has signed on the dotted line to go toe-to-toe with 28-year-old Michael Zerafa in Victoria on March 13.

Yes, that's right, that means there's a 17 year age gap between the two - not that Mundine is bothered, though.

And it appears he plans on taking Zerafa into deep waters come fight time.

"I'm going to give him a reality check and redeem myself and get all of the glory from it," Mundine told Wide World of Sports.

"Nobody thinks I'm going to win."

On top of that, the former WBA super-middleweight and IBO middleweight champ has his sights set on capturing another world title if he can get past the tricky obstacle of Zerafa.

"Bro, If I win this fight I'm back in the game and have a lot more options," he added.

"If something motivates me to fight again, maybe fight for a world title or a big-money fight."

Mundine was infamously knocked out by former world champ Jeff Horn in their all-Aussie bout back in 2018.

Three years on, and Mundine knows exactly who's at fault for his demoralising defeat - and it has nothing to do with his own corner, coaches, sparring partners or even himself.

"He drained me down to 71kg but then they made me weigh in again an hour before the fight and I couldn't be more than 75kg," Mundine said.

"So I couldn't even put on four kilos. They knew what they were doing, it was strategic and wasn't right."
