Lucas Browne has revealed the truth about exactly what he was tucking into ahead of all-Aussie grudge match with Paul Gallen.

Just moments before stepping out to take on the former rugby league player, eagle-eyed boxing fans spotted Browne AKA "Big Daddy" eating a sausage roll in the changing rooms.

Or so it seemed.

Footage of Browne devouring the food circulated around social media with creative users needing only a matter of minutes to conjure up hilarious memes.

But after getting knocked out in the very first round, 115 seconds into the bout to be exact, Browne issued a public statement and addressed the confusion behind his choice of pre-fight foods.

"So I've realised wtf everyone was talking about when they were saying you fat c**t for eating a sausage roll while in the change room before the fight," he wrote in a Facebook post.

"It was the apricot oat bar lol... f***ing media and their bulls**t hahahahah."

Glad to see he saw the funny side of things.

But in an earlier Facebook post, the 42-year-old former world champ addressed a far more serious matter.

Some boxing fans accused Browne of taking a "dive" and that the bout was actually "fixed" in Gallen's favour.

And while Browne laughed off the allegations of munching on a sausage roll, the same couldn't be said for how he reacted to these far more serious claims.

"It's so f***ing sad to see so many bull***t comments, attacks, haters and people saying I took a dive," he said.

"I had a fight, I fought s**t, couldn't recover, have been out the ring for too long and got beat, end of story.

"I got in there, had a go, failed, and that's it... full credit to Gallen. Thank you to the fans, supporters and sponsors, and I do apologise."
