The 'Heaviest Boxing Match in History' is officially off - for now, at least.

Eddie Hall has confirmed that he has suffered a detached bicep, therefore ruling him out of his scheduled bout against Hafthor Bjornsson.

The former World's Strongest Man sustained the horror injury during a recent sparring session, claiming that a "lazy left hook" was the cause of it.

For now, it means Hall's highly-anticipated grudge match against strongman rival Bjornsson has been put on hold with a new date yet to be scheduled.

British fan favourite Hall posted a video on social media showing the exact moment he sustained the nasty bicep tear.

In the clip, he can be seen throwing a swinging left hook which awkwardly clips his sparring partner.

Knowing exactly what he'd just done, Hall then ran over to the ropes to show his trainer the injury.

That's when the disappointment and agony kicked in, which resulted in Hall collapsing to the canvas before punching it in sheer rage.

He instantly knew that the severity of the injury would put his fight against Bjornsson in jeopardy - and he was right.

The weightlifting champion, who looks in terrific shape ahead of the super-heavyweight bout, has been forced to withdraw after undergoing surgery to repair the detached left bicep.

"Little bit of bad news. On Monday I threw a bit of a lazy left hook in training and detached my bicep," he said in his Instagram video.

"Good news is I had the surgery on Thursday, it was a complete success. The bicep's reattached I'm able move it already, even after two days.

"Bad news is the fight is going to have to be delayed, it won't be going ahead on September 18.

"I'm doing everything I can to recover as quickly as I can and I'm looking forward to getting back to training. I'm most looking forward to ripping Thor's face off."

While a time frame for his recovery and rehabilitation hasn't been set out just yet, it's understood Hall's operation went well and he's already began moving the muscle itself

Upon hearing the news, Hall's opponent took to social media to have his say.

"Super disappointed but this is not in my hands," Bjornsson AKA 'The Mountain' said.

"Next up is finding a new opponent so I can fight in September. I'm taking this extremely serious and I'll be even more prepared. When Eddie is ready, I'll be waiting."

That opponent could come in the form of a trash-talking YouTuber by the name of Logan Paul.

Game of Thrones star Bjornsson has previously admitted that he'd be keen to throw hands with the eldest Paul brother after his bout against Hall.

But given the circumstances surrounding Hall's recent injury, who knows, that proposed fight against Logan could happen way sooner than we think.
