Boxer Cheyenne Hanson Shows Off Horrific Head Injury After Fight
German boxing ace Cheyenne Hanson has revealed the gigantic hematoma that caused her title fight to be prematurely ended at the weekend.
The 23-year-old super-featherweight was taking on Ukrainian Alina Zaitseva in Gersthofen, Germany, but the fight was stopped prematurely after head clashes caused the spectacular injury.
Hanson shared a before and after image on her Instagram, showing just how grotesque the swelling quickly became. No wonder ringside doctors stepped in to stop the fight.
Hanson actually won the contest - taking her pro record to 8-1 (six knockouts) - via technical decision. Any fight which is stopped due to a clash of heads goes to the scorecards after a certain number of rounds have been completed.
Apparently her 21-year-old opponent Zaitseva had, according to RT Sport, been warned several times by officials for leading with her head - before doctors eventually stopped the contest when the swelling clearly became too much.
Hanson, nicknamed Pepper, won the vacant BDB International German super-featherweight title with the victory.

"We did it!" she messaged afterwards, while calling it a "tough fight". The left side of her face was clearly testament to that.
Fair play to Hanson for briefly boxing on with what must have been an incredible painful injury.
The size of her hematoma is reminiscent of UFC fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who suffered an equally nasty swelling in her strawweight fight against Zhang Weili last year.
Frankly, a paper cut still makes us wince. Clearly these combat sports athletes are made of sterner stuff.
