Conor McGregor turning up for Dallas Cowboys' match against Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday wouldn't be a big deal for some people.

What was a big deal was when the Notorious took to the pitch and did one of the worst throws in NFL history.

But we're talking about McGregor here, so the 30-year-old Irishman has taken to Instagram to offer a brilliant explanation for what happened.

"Ha ha ha, yours f*****g ruthless on this side," he wrote. "I just didn't want to rip my custom August McGregor baby blue billionaire blazer.

"That was all, y'all. Great job to the Cowboys today! It's a proper giddy up tonight in Dallas and I LOVE IT."

One user wrote on his post: "Anybody else read this in an Irish accent?"

Another said: "Throws a football like he throws a Monster can."

A third added: "Honestly, I'm annoyed that people are hating on this. American football isn't played in Ireland, so how the f**k would he know how to hold and throw a football properly?

"I would have no clue what to do if they told me to pitch a ball in cricket or something. Like, damn, lay off the dude."

McGregor's presence at the match had a big influence on the Cowboys, with Ezekiel Elliott scoring a touchdown and celebrating with the UFC fighter's 'Billi Strut.'

"I don't know about the McGregor strut," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told USA Today. "But I can do the Dak strut."

The match ended with the Cowboys thrashing the Jaguars 40-7.

Can you throw the ball better than McGregor?
