Wesley Fofana 'confirms' Chelsea move ahead of Leicester clash

Wesley Fofana has seemingly confirmed his move to Chelsea.

Wesley Fofana has 'confirmed' his move to Chelsea ahead of the Blues Premier League clash against Leicester.

The 21-year-old has been a priority for the west London side this summer and a move to Stamford Bridge is practically sealed.

Having lost both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers to Spain this window, Thomas Tuchel's side have been hunting reinforcements.

Kalidou Koulibaly arrived earlier in the window from Napoli in a move worth £34 million.

Following the failed pursuit of Jules Kounde, who opted for a move to Barcelona, Fofana emerged as a key target for the Blues.

With less than a week left in the transfer window, it has become of extreme importance that some last-minute signings are completed.

Chelsea had three bids rejected for the young star, increasing in value from £50 million up to £70 million.

It appears however a fourth offer has been successful.

On Friday it was reported that Chelsea reached a verbal agreement with Brendan Rodgers' side for the defender.

Should the move be completed, Fofana will become the Blues seventh signing of the summer.

With add-ons it could be a world-record fee that Chelsea pay for the centre-back.

Fofana will pen a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The latest on this transfer saga has come from Fofana himself, near enough 'confirming' his move to Chelsea.

Former Leicester City striker Gary Lineker shared on twitter his disappointment but best wishes for the young central defender.

Fofana's response to this has essentially announced his move away from the side.

Chelsea play host to Leicester this Saturday in a game that can be dubbed the 'Fofana derby'.

His arrival will further strengthen the backline and he will be learning and playing alongside two of the most experienced defenders in the world.

Thiago Silva and summer signing Koulibaly will be the perfect role models for the French international who will hope to step his game up to the next level under the management of Tuchel.

The move could also play a crucial role in the future of Trevoh Chalobah.

Both RB Leipzig and AC Milan are thought to be keen on acquiring the Cobham graduate, with Inter Milan also interested.

Despite breaking through last season, his game time dipped throughout the year and a loan move could be ideal for the 23-year-old.

Should he move to Inter Milan he would link-up with Romelu Lukaku who also departed Chelsea this summer.
