WWE United Kingdom champion Walter said that he is "100 per cent" open to the idea of fighting Cesaro in a blockbuster showdown in NXT UK.

The Swiss superstar, 38, made his mark at NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff last Saturday when he stepped into the ring with Ilja Dragunov.

Speaking to SPORTbible in an exclusive interview, Walter showed his admiration for Cesaro by saying he had "developed into one of the finest professional wrestlers around."

The 'Ring General' continued: "Cesaro as well started out at wXw [Westside Xtreme Wrestling] in Germany, but he left there and went to America before I started wrestling there regularly.

"So... that's there that little bit of connection where he was like the very first who made it out of wXw and who made it in the United States or outside of it.

"And since then, he has developed into one of the finest professional wrestlers around.

"So, of course, I'm always looking for challenging competition and it just makes sense."

When we asked the UK champ if he would want a certain stipulation for the match against Cesaro, he responded: "Nah, just a regular singles match. That's all I need [laughs]."

Walter took to Twitter to issue a challenge to Cesaro after it was announced that he would be heading to TakeOver: Cardiff.

The Austrian star tweeted: "Be my guest after im done with Tyler [Bate] [sic]!"

After Cesaro's victory over Dragunov, Walter once again took to social media and put out a fitting tribute to the six-time tag team champ by tagging wXw in his tweet.

NXT founder and senior producer Triple H praised the NXT UK superstars for their performances at TakeOver: Cardiff and was adamant that they had helped 'raise the bar' for the brand.

Should Cesaro take up Walter's challenge?
