22 Years Ago, The Undertaker Threw Mankind Off Hell In A Cell In WWE's Most Iconic Moment

Exactly 22 ago today, The Undertaker threw Mankind from the top of Hell In A Cell in one of WWE's most legendary moments.

Mick Foley, known for portraying several characters in sports entertainment over the years, is a bit of a strange cat. He's been involved in a series of deadly matches and stunts.

In fact the man who was famous for his three faces: Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love, once lost his ear in an infamous match against Vader.

The most brutal of his characters, Cactus Jack, was well known for his hardcore nature and deathmatches but Mankind could equally take things to the limit.

But there's no denying that the one match we saw at the height of the popular 'Attitude Era' in WWE featured one of the most frightening moments in Foley's career - and the professional wrestling business on the whole.

Foley squared off against the legendary Undertaker inside Hell in a Cell, where the two played out one of the 'great' moments in WWE history.

An incredible fall from around 16 feet, Foley was sent crashing through the Spanish announce table, prompting one of the most iconic calls from commentator Jim Ross.

"Good God almighty! Good God almighty! That killed him! As God as my witness, he is broken in half!"

"Mrs Foley's baby boy" had dislocated his shoulder in the death-defying stunt but being the mad man he is, decided he wanted to endure further punishment. He got off his stretcher and went back on top of the cell with 'Taker'.

The Phenom then chokeslammed his opponent on top of the cell and a panel gave way sending the three-time WWE champion crashing through onto the canvas, in another horrible landing.

In his book, Foley said that after the match chairman Vince McMahon made him promise to "never do anything like that again." Taker also thought he'd killed his opponent following the manoeuver.

Whilst the daredevil had suffered a concussion, he somehow found it within him to finish the match - taking a tombstone piledriver to end the contest.

This moment will never, ever be forgotten by professional wrestling fans and plenty who weren't mad into it are aware of it because of how bloody mental it was.

Mick Foley, you are one crazy bastard and for that we salute you.
