WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page was not surprised at how good Ronda Rousey looked in her debut match.

The former UFC women's bantamweight champion looked completely at home in the squared circle teaming with the Olympic hero Kurt Angle opposite the husband and wife couple of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Wearing gear inspired by the late great 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, Rousey looked like a star as soon as she stepped through the curtain at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

She then followed up by putting on a show-stealing performance, sending the 78,000 fans into a frenzy throughout with her in-ring work and picking up the win by making Stephanie tap out to her trusty armbar submission.

Some people were surprised by how quickly Rousey has picked up the art of professional wrestling but DDP, who was in New Orleans over Wrestlemania weekend, was not one of those people.

"I knew she was going to be really good," he told SPORTbible.

"She said something in an interview like, 'I believe everything I have done in my life has lead up to this'. The name 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey was pulled out from the top of her head after 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper - so she loved our business.

"What I've found in the MMA world , is they are either really big fans like Tito Ortiz was, and Robbie Lawler - he came up to me at Wrestlecon when he was over there and he wanted to meet me, or they're not.

"But Ronda is and her husband, Travis Browne, is a fan as well. I wasn't surprised. I think she did a hell of a job and it's going to give her so much confidence moving forward."

Earlier on in the night, Charlotte Flair successfully defended her Smackdown women's championship by inflicting the first ever WWE defeat on Asuka in their thrilling back and forth bout.

Many people have the view that Charlotte vs Rousey would be a match worthy of main eventing next year's Wrestlemania.

DDP would be in favour but says Ronda is still some way away from Charlotte's level as he feels she is the top female on the roster.

"I could see it," he added.

"Charlotte will make her look like a million bucks. It will take Ronda a while to catch up to Charlotte because Charlotte's one of the hardest workers on the planet."
