Brock Lesnar had salt rubbed into his wounds on Sunday night as potential UFC rival Daniel Cormier laughed at the former UFC heavyweight for losing his WWE Universal title at Wrestlemania 35.

For as long as Brock Lesnar has been back in WWE there has been rumours that he would once again head from the squared circle to the octagon to rejoin UFC and attempt to become heavyweight champion in the UFC sphere once again.

Back at UFC 200 the 'Beast Incarnate' was allowed to appear for the mixed martial arts promotion and he fought Mark Hunt. Lesnar got the win but it was soon overturned because of a drugs ban that Lesnar failed.

Since then the 41 year old has returned to feature at WWE, mainly whenever he's felt like it, and even won back the WWE's universal title on several occasions, last winning it at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in November.

That took him to Wrestlemania 35 on Sunday as champion and in the build up to his big fight with Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins it was rumoured that Lesnar would head back to UFC in August to fight heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.

Cormier is a big wrestling fan and once Lesnar had lost his title to Rollins the former two weight UFC champion was quick to mock him on Twitter:

With fellow UFC alumnus Ronda Rousey due to go on last for the main event, against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch with the Raw and Smackdown Women's titles on the line, it was thought Lesnar and Rollins was go on late on the night.

However, after Hulk Hogan made a surprise appearance to open the Showcase of the Immortals,Paul Heyman turned up to announce that if his 'client', Lesnar, wasn't going to wait around and would defend his title first.

That didn't go too well with the Kingslayer defeating the Beast after three Curb Stomps in a row to leave the MetLife stadium with the title.

It was a real night for title changes in New York with the Cruiserweight title going to Tony Nese, Raw tag titles going to Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins, the women's tag titles went to the Iconics, Kofi Kingston won the WWE Championship and Becky Lynch ended up with both women's singles titles.

The fact that Lesnar lost might hint towards him not being at Summerslam, WWE's major August event, and thus a bout with Cormier in the octagon.

Was the UFC champ's tweet a bit of fun at Lesnar's expense or the start of a rivalry that could see them fight for the gold?
