UFC president Dana White confirmed that three members of Khabib Nurmagomedov's team were arrested following the ugly scenes after the Russian defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229 for the lightweight title.

Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday morning, depending where in the world you are, saw incredible and ugly scenes at the end of Khabib Nurmagomedov's win over Conor McGregor as the fight was overshadowed by an ugly melee.

Khabib and Conor have had a fierce and ugly rivalry that had really started over a violent attack by the Irishman on a bus that was carrying the Russian.

Personal jibes had continued in the build up to their fight at UFC 229 and even during the fight there was even more needle than the usual amounts by two men trying to smack seven bells out of each other.

It was after the end of the fight that things really kicked off with Khabib jumping over the octagon and attacking one of McGregor's friends whilst a member of the Eagle's team jumped into the octagon to attack the Notorious.

Afterwards Dana White confirmed that three of the Russian's team had been arrested:

The scenes after the fight were ugly and White had to explain to the champion, who defended the title for the first time since winning it, that he couldn't be given the belt through fear of what the reaction might be.

It was a huge shame that the night finished on such a downer.

Khabib and McGregor put on an extremely intriguing fight as the Russian managed to win with a fourth round submission but not without taking some shots from the Irishman.

Tony Ferguson vs Anthony Pettis had been a real barnstormer in the co-main event and Derrick Lewis' heavyweight stop of Alexander Volkov was exciting and explosive.

All anyone will be talking about though will be the post fight attacks.
