Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped the cage at the end of his UFC 229 victory against Conor McGregor on October 7 and attacked Dillion Danis, a decision that could land him with a hefty fine and a possible nine month ban, according to his father.

In a recent interview, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov understands his son will be fined $500,000 (£396,000) by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

NSAC are expected to to sanction the pair on January 29, but it sounds like a settlement could have already been agreed upon, judging by Abdulmanap's recent comments.

"I don't know how it will end," Abdulmanap said via The Express.

"As far as I understand, we will get a fine of $500,000 (£396,000), and maybe we could not fight in the next nine months. Of course, it should have never happened. Now we are just looking forward for a bright future and other lucrative fights."

The report also states that if Khabib is banned for nine months, the suspension 'is likely' to be backdated to October.

This means he would be able to fight from July 6 onwards.

Of course, Khabib later apologised for his actions in the UFC 229 post-fight press conference. He also released the following statement on Instagram, firing shots at his opponent, telling him: "I told you so."

"Friend, even now you are slowing down, I'm uncomfortable for you myself," he said via Instagram.

"I told you that on October 6, I would say everything - or did you actually think you could beat me in there?

"I apologise to everyone whom I have offended in our common victory. And my sincere Fans - you are just a space. Thank you for your incredible support, I love you, yours truly - Khabib Nurmagomedov."

"I want to say sorry to the athletic commission, sorry to Vegas. I know this is not my best side," he explained.

"I don't understand how people can say I jumped on the cage. He talked about my religion, my family, he came to Brooklyn and could have killed people on the bus.

"Why are we talking about me climbing on the cage? My father taught me to be respectful. Today, he tapped, the belt is here, undisputed, undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion. This is a respectful sport, not a trash-talking sport."
