Khabib Nurmagomedov successfully defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229 to retain his UFC Lightweight Championship.

It could have been a moment for the Russian fighter to relish his victory after the match. However, Nurmagomedov quickly scrambled up and over the cage and entered into a massive scrap with the Irishman's camp.

Nurmagomedov wanted UFC president Dana White to present him with his title after the match. By the sound of things, though, White was not so keen to see the consequences of doing it.

"Here's what is going to happen... this is what I believe, if I put this belt on you, everybody is going to throw s**t into the Octagon," he told Nurmagomedov (via GiveMeSport).

In hindsight, it seems pretty tame after everything that happened after the fight, which included three members of Khabib's camp being arrested in response to an attack on McGregor.

However, there is new footage showing that the Notorious might have thrown the first punch in that scuffle.

The reigning UFC Lightweight Champion was able to lock in a submission hold in the fourth round to defeat his rival, extending his undefeated record to 27 wins.

Boxer Tyson Fury has since come out to offer his verdict on the match, while Khabib also took part in a post-match press conference and apologised for his actions.
