Tyron Woodley has defeated Darren Till at UFC 228.

The American successfully defended his UFC welterweight title by submitting the previously undefeated Darren Till with a d'arce choke from Dallas, Texas.

A cagey opening round saw little action. However, in the second round Woodley dropped Till with a big shot, before reigning down elbows, eventually securing a submission.

Woodley, 36, has retained his belt for the fourth time after claiming UFC gold against Robbie Lawler at UFC 201.

At 25, Till suffers his first professional defeat. He's been eyeing up a move to middleweight as a result of his drastic weight cut to the welterweight limit.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Woodley def. Till by submission (d'arce) of Round 2 - 4:19.
