UFC and Conor McGregor were talking about a new contract before his arrest, and the promotion even 'discussed' a super-fight.
The Irishman hasn't fought inside the Octagon since 2016 where he made UFC history, claiming the lightweight title, becoming the first ever to hold two belts, simultaneously.
He's since been stripped of the UFC featherweight & lightweight titles following his inactivity inside the cage.
However, a return to MMA appears to be on the cards.

And McGregor was in dialogue with Dana White regarding a new contract ahead of a potential bout with Rafael dos Anjos for the interim-UFC welterweight title.
"We were actually working on a new deal and a new plan for him all this week. Then he shows up and this happens," White said on ESPN via Bloody Elbow.
While MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani reported: "Another plan discussed was to book Conor McGregor vs. Rafael dos Anjos for the interim welterweight title in the spring, though McGregor and the UFC had to come to terms on a new contract first."
McGregor was scheduled to fight dos Anjos at UFC 196. The Brazilian was the then-UFC lightweight champion. Though he pulled out of the contest after an injury with Nate Diaz stepping in.

But UFC's tasty plans went to shit following McGregor wrecking havoc in Brooklyn, attacking a bus, injuring Michael Chiesa.
During a press conference on Friday night, UFC announced dos Anjos vs. Colby Covington for the interim-UFC welterweight title.
dos Anjos vs. Covington is slated for UFC 225 in Chicago. It was originally penciled in for Brazil, yet the promotion changed the location for safety reasons.
