McGregor subsequently flew to the States and attempted to confront Nurmagomedov.

The wild scenes earlier in the year in Brooklyn which saw Conor McGregor go absolutely ballistic appears to stem from a confrontation between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Artem Lobov.

Before McGregor stormed a UFC presser in Brooklyn, his teammate, Lobov, was slated to fight Alex 'Bruce Leeroy' Caceres with Nurmagomedov in the main-event challenging for UFC gold.

And during fight week, when the combatants arrived at the fighters hotel ahead of UFC 223, Lobov and Nurmagomedov had an intense head-to-head.

While the altercation wasn't physical, Nurmagomedov is pictured having his hands on Lobov's face.

How the altercation actually started remains to be unclear. Though, obviously, McGregor and Nurmagomedov have history.

Not long after, McGregor arrived in the States looking for the unbeaten lightweight, viciously attacking a bus carrying fighters, injuring Michael Chiesa who was subsequently pulled from the UFC 223 card.

Fast forward a few months, Nurmagomedov and McGregor meet this weekend at UFC 229 and 'Mystic Mac's' forecast is in.

"I think I'm going to turn him into a bobblehead if I'm honest," he told The Mac Life.

Nurmagomedov and McGregor have been trading verbal jabs with the pair firing shots at a pre-fight press conference in New York.

Despite the bad blood, the Irishman stays true to his fighting philosophy in that it's a blank face inside the cage.

"It's personal but it's the same, it's always a little personal. In there it's a blank face and a new body."

McGregor added: "I see him turning into a bobblehead when I hit him. I feel his brain is going to rattle when he takes a clatter off me.

"That's what I'm keeping in my head, but I'm a veteran now.

"I will be prepared for five rounds, I'll be prepared for any scenario. I'm well trained, I've put in the work and we are confident going in, no matter where it goes."

'The Notorious' will be hoping to land his trademark left-hand on Nurmagomedov's chin when they meet in Las Vegas, Nevada.
