Stipe Miocic's father received news that he was clear of cancer on the same day his son won back the UFC heavyweight title.
August 17, 2019 will go down as one of the best days in Miocic's life. He not only reclaimed the UFC heavyweight title, but his father was also cleared of cancer.

After stopping Daniel Cormier to become the new UFC heavyweight champion, Miocic went backstage where he phoned his father and that's when he received some amazing news.
"I'm so happy for you, dad. I got this belt, this is for you OK," Miocic told his father. "My dad just got cleared of cancer, by the way, today.
"How awesome is that right? He acted like it was no big thing. He's like 'oh I'm clear'."

Miocic is now a two-time UFC heavyweight champion after winning the title for the first time back in 2016 against Fabricio Werdum.
Miocic and Cormier are now 1-1 with a trilogy bout potentially on the cards if Cormier continues to carry in on the sport, and Dana White doesn't think 'DC' should call it a day just yet.

"He looked damn good until like I said after the fight, whoever came up with that go-to-the-body game plan in between rounds was f**king brilliant. Brilliant. And it was even more brilliant the way Stipe executed it," White said about their epic UFC 241 main-event bout.
"So yes, I think he's one of the best in the world and I don't think he should retire but that's up to him and his family.
"I'll do anything he wants to do and obviously anything that Stipe wants to do," he added. "Stipe's gotta want the trilogy, too."
