Khabib Nurmagomedov has unfinished business with Conor McGregor and he wants to renew their UFC rivalry in a blockbuster rematch.
The UFC lightweight king is slated to return to the famed Octagon following his nine-month suspension against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.
But it appears he still has his eyes on McGregor. The Dagestan-destroyer hinted that he would like a second meeting with 'The Notorious'.
"We have not finished yet what was on October 6," he said.
"We still have a lot of fights, so we plan to write more history and show that we are here. Being high in the mountains, we can reach certain heights and successes."
UFC president Dana White "absolutely could" see a rematch between Nurmagomedov and McGregor.
"Conor wants that fight. Conor wants the rematch with Khabib," he said about the Irishman.
"All these guys have been fighting, again, this thing's going to play out this weekend and then Sept. 7 in Abu Dhabi, and then we'll figure out what's next for Conor.
"I could, I absolutely could [see a rematch]," he added.
Nurmagomedov will face Poirier, who holds the UFC interim-lightweight title, in a unification on September 7. McGregor, on the other hand, is training ahead of making his anticipated return to the cage.
"He's training," White added. "Obviously we'll sit back and we'll watch how this whole thing plays out with these fights and see where Conor fits in and what he wants to do next."
