Conor McGregor has teased his ambitions in 2019 when he steps back inside the octagon in UFC.

The 30-year-old Irishman suffered a defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October, but it looks like he's more than ready to move on from that fight.

The Notorious took to Instagram to reveal that he wants to compete for the UFC Lightweight Championship again.

"The McGregor Real Round Formula. Implemented officially after Diaz I. It has stood us well," he wrote.

"Great work here 'The Bomber' Pascu Ion. Big solid b*****d. 2019, we will see who reigns."

McGregor has already revealed his desire to have a rematch with Nurmagomedov, but it might be a while before that could take place.

The 30-year-old Russian fighter's future remains unclear, with him waiting to hear back from the verdict of the Nevada Athletic Commission for his post-match scuffle at UFC 229.

It is also believed that the Eagle could face Tony Ferguson next, meaning that McGregor would have to wait before he could challenge Nurmagomedov again.

Earlier this week, John Kavanagh dropped a massive bombshell on McGregor.

"Well, he would certainly have to convince me to go again," he said.

"I love the whole journey we've had, but I'd need a good 'why.'

"It might be [Nate] Diaz again because he promised that fight. It might be a rematch with Khabib. But if it was just: 'Well, they want me to fight that guy,' I think I'd say, 'I wish you the best.'

"[McGregor] has a wife and two kids now and I don't want him taking more hits than he needs to.

"Khabib hit him with a punch in that fight that he has never been hit with in his career. And even Superman slows down at some stage."

Should UFC book a rematch between McGregor and Nurmagomedov?
