Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin, Abubakar, has revealed the injuries he suffered from the UFC 229 melee - as well as detailing the fracas with Conor McGregor.

The UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib lost his head after tapping out McGregor in the main event, living up to his 'Eagle' nickname by flying over the Octagon to get at his opponent's camp and entering a brawl with them, specifically going after Dillon Danis.

An incensed McGregor climbed up the cage and new footage showed him swinging a punch at Abubakar, who threw shots of his own as all hell broke loose at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Three members of Khabib's camp were arrested but McGregor elected to not press charges and they were subsequently released.

Abubakar gave his own account of what went down, while also showing off a black eye and cut he says he suffered at the hands of McGregor - who he claims was responsible for the first punch.

"In short, I climbed onto the cage. This Irish b**** hit me. But I didn't hold back either. Bam, boom! - I gave [him] two," he said, as per RT.

"The papakha prevented [me], there was a papakha [Khabib's wig/hat] in my left hand."

Khabib, who has had his paycheck withheld for now according to UFC president Dana White, apologised for his conduct in a very short post-match press conference, though it didn't sound overly sincere.

"I want to say sorry to the athletic commission, sorry to Vegas. I know this is not my best side," he explained.

"I don't understand how people can say I jumped on the cage. He talked about my religion, my family, he came to Brooklyn and could have killed people on the bus.

"Why are we talking about me climbing on the cage? My father taught me to be respectful. Today, he tapped, the belt is here, undisputed, undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion. This is a respectful sport, not a trash-talking sport."
