UFC 239 in July promises to be one of the best events in the company's history and it looks as though we will be getting a heavyweight slugfest between Francis Ngannou and Junior dos Santos.

Respected MMA journalist Ariel Helwani reported that while the match-up is not signed and sealed just yet, it is close to being finalised for the pay-per-view in Las Vegas - with an announcement expected in the next few days.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating this fight for quite some time now. It was set to take place at UFC 215 in September 2017 but Santos was removed from the card following a provisional suspension from USADA.

The former heavyweight champ was cleared of any wrongdoing in the end but it's only now that the 21-5 fighter is poised to go up against 13-3 Ngannou, who finished Cain Velasquez inside 26 seconds in his last fight.

UFC 239 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena and coincides with UFC International Fight Week.

205 lbs king Jon Jones will defend his title against Brazilian slugger Thiago Santos, with women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes facing Holly Holm in the co-main event.

Ex-UFC middleweight and Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold will make his light-heavyweight debut versus Polish striker Jan Blachowicz.

Ben Askren, fresh off beating Robbie Lawler in his UFC debut, is set to meet Jorge Masvidal in a welterweight bout at the event.

Here's how UFC 239 looks:

Light-heavyweight title fight: Jon Jones vs. Thiago Santos

Women's bantamweight title fight: Amanda Nunes vs. Holly Holm

Ben Askren vs. Jorge Masvidal

Jan Blachowicz vs. Luke Rockhold

What a card UFC 239 is shaping up to be.
