UFC fans are desperate for Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov, and the fight that everyone is craving for could be on the cards judging by John Kavanagh's social media activity.

(Classic McGregor. This is brilliant:)

McGregor's absence from the UFC created another title within the 155lbs division. Tony Ferguson claimed the interim version, beating Kevin Lee via submission at UFC 216 in 2017.

And at UFC 219, Nuramgomedov made his eagerly awaited comeback by battering top lightweight striker Edson Barboza in a lop-sided decision.

What's next for the 25-0 fighter?

It appears UFC gold will be on the line in his next Octagon outing. But against who?

While a match-up versus Ferguson is a potential barnburner, the anti-McGregor brigade want to see the Irishman tested in the grappling department. And Nurmagomedov is just the man to provide that examination.

Could the Dagestani destroyer welcome McGregor back to the cage?

Well, his head coach has suggested it may be next after filming footage of himself watching tape on Nurmagomedov.

Kavanagh posted a couple of slides on his Instagram story keeping tabs on the lightweight star.

The premiere MMA organisation recently unveiled their main-event for the Las Vegas show in March by naming a featherweight title bout between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar.

Though Dana White and Co. will be looking for a marque bout in the summer for UFC 226 which is slated for July 7th.

C'mon Dana, McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov - Make it happen.
