Austin Batra almost beat Perry Hayer in a Battlefield Fight League match for the Amateur Welterweight Championship in Coquitlam, British Columbia.

The word 'almost' is so crucial. You see, Batra had defeated Hayer in the actual match before he decided to brutally follow it up with another attack while he lay helpless inside the octagon.

He probably would have succeeded in his attack had the referee not shielded Hayer.

Honestly, check it out below.

"Nothing in the brain at all... No discipline, no respect..." one user wrote on Instagram.

Another added: "It doesn't matter if the ref was there after he jumped; the man literally saw him go down and decided to go WWE on him. LOL. Definitely should've been DQ'd."

A third said: "I don't think he was a man for disrespect. He was just throwing a flying double fist into the dude's face, but the ref jumped in there to stop him!"

According to MMA Fighting, Hayer won the Amateur Welterweight Championship due to disqualification.

And fight fans also vented their frustration on Twitter at the time and they called for him to receive a lifetime ban.

Was Batra's follow-up strike intentional?

Let us know in the comments.
