"I'M NOT SURPRISED MOTHER F*CKERS!!"

The utterly brilliant, and now famous, words hollered by the one-and-only Nate Diaz after submitting Conor McGregor at UFC 196.

(If you're a clown, stay away from McGregor:)

Following the withdrawal of then-UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos, McGregor was left without a opponent ahead of fight night which was approaching.

Jose Aldo declined. Frankie Edgar declined. Diaz accpeted.

On just a few weeks notice, Stockton's favourite son stepped up, saved UFC 196, and more.

McGregor and Diaz barely had time to drum up interest. But a few exchanges changed the whole landscape.

UFC 196 sold a whopping 1.5 million pay-per-views, and fight fans tuning in witnessed a truly remarkable main-event.

The Irishman landed his patented left-hand at will. Though unlike previous opponents, he failed to put him away.

Diaz's durability was showing who entered the second round with a full gas tank. McGregor, on the other hand, emptied his basket attempting to stop him in the very first round.

In the second round, Diaz tagged McGregor, wobbling him who became a panic wrestler, shooting for a sloppy take down.

Bad move.

Diaz instantly caught his neck, and sunk in a slick rear naked choke. McGregor succumbed to his ground-wizardry before tapping.

The cult-hero walked away from Vegas with a cool half-million in the bank, and the MMA game in his palm.

UFC 196, what a night!
