Tom Hardy Reveals Conor McGregor Inspired His Venom Character

Hardy plays Eddie Brock in the upcoming film and it seems the UFC stars desire to fight everyone inspired how he played the character.

Conor McGregor took over the UFC world, then, in his words, took over the boxing world and now without even giving it a go the Notorious One is taking over the film world, according to Venom's Tom Hardy.

Conor McGregor is currently getting ready for what is the biggest and hardest fight of his career when he faces Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 with the lightweight title that he never lost in a fight on the line.

The reason the Notorious had the title taken off him is because he decided to take a two year break from UFC and instead had a boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather.

On his return to the UFC universe the Irishman was in fine form at the pre fight press conference and as well as becoming a commentator on Russian/Chechen politics he was also doing a very good impression of a whiskey salesman. Is there nothing he can't turn his hands to?

Well apparently McGregor could also be a journalist turned crime fighting anti-hero, and that's according to a man who would know. Tom Hardy, speaking about upcoming film Venom, revealed to RTE Entertainment, via TMZ, that he took inspiration from the UFC star for the title character:

"There were more elements of Eddie Brock [Venom's alter ego] which needed to be pinned on somebody who's incredibly handy physically. And, obviously, Conor is incredibly handy physically.

"There was an aspect the studio wanted somebody who could fight, which they always do in these sort of hero movies. They want somebody who can have a scrap. Conor obviously wants to have a scrap with everybody, so that's useful.

"But then, there were elements like the neuroses of Woody Allen. So, if you put that and Conor together, there was that too."

So a mix of Conor McGregor and Woody Allen, now that's interesting mixture of people that we can't really imagine.

Hardy doesn't expect the former lightweight champion to care though, "I don't think he'd be bothered, really. Conor doesn't strike me as the type of person who might be that bothered!"

The world will get to see whether or not Eddie Brock comes out on top on October 5th, fortunately it'll only be one more day after till we get to see if his inspiration is back at the top of the UFC mountain.

Will McGregor come out on top or will Khabib have the antidote?
