They may have lost 4-0 at home to Liverpool yesterday, but there could be some good news on the horizon for West Ham fans if the bookies are to be believed.

The Irons are 7/4 favourites to snap up Dries Mertens, despite reported interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Belgian hotshot, who has 30 goals and 10 assists in just 32 starts for Napoli this term, is thought to be available for around £20 million this summer.

Despite scoring and providing two assists in their 5-0 demolition of Joe Hart's Torino side yesterday, the 30-year-old is yet to extend his contract with the Serie A side.

His current deal runs until June 2018, so West Ham could be in for a bargain if they swoop to acquire his services.

Elsewhere, the two Merseyside clubs are next up in the betting - with Everton at 4/1 and Liverpool at 5/1.

Meanwhile, It's a 7/1 shot he swaps Naples for North London with Tottenham, while Chelsea are priced up at 9s.

However, traders can't see him following Gonzalo Higuain's controversial path to Juventus, with 12/1 on offer for Mertens to join the Old Lady.

Ladbrokes News' Dave Burin said: "The Hammers could be set to make the signing of the summer, with the bookies tipping the Belgian hitman to head to London Stadium."
