There's A New Favourite In The Race To Sign Alexis Sanchez

His contract ends in 2018...

Juventus has been given renewed optimism in their hope of signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the summer.

The Chilean international has less than 18 months left on his contract with the Gunners, giving the Serie A side confidence that they'll be able to secure a cut-price deal for the 28-year old.

Corriere dello Sport claims a £25m bid has been made for the former-Barcelona man, though it is more likely that intermediaries are working within Sanchez' camp to gauge the likelihood of a move to Turin.

This comes as bad news for Arsenal fans, with Alexis refusing to sign a new deal, and the board must make a decision to sell their best player for peanuts or allow him to make a move in 2018 on a Bosman.

The latter gives Wenger more time to work out a deal with the two-time Copa America winner, allowing them to better understand what their star man wants with close sources admitting that 'no door is closed on the Gunners'.

Unfortunately, the real deal-breaker could be Arsenal's unwillingness to meet his £300,000 wage requests - a salary that European giants like PSG and Juventus would comfortably meet for such a player.

If Juventus were to pick up Sanchez for a cut-price fee, it increases the likelihood that Paulo Dybala could move on sooner rather than later.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have reportedly been following the Argentinian for some time and The Old Lady could cash-in if they had Sanchez instead.

The Chilean actually began his 11-years of European football in Serie A with Udinese, joining from Cobreloa in 2006. Loan spells at Colo Colo in 2006 and River Plate in 2007 were followed by a prolonged spell in the Zebrette first-team, before being poached by Barcelona in 2011.

He won six major honours with the Catalan club before a move to Arsenal in 2014 to make way for Luis Suarez at the Camp Nou.

For some time he has been comfortably Arsenal's best player but a lack of success and ambition at the Emirates has seen him become unhappy in North London.

Juventus are now the bookies' favourite to be his summer destination at 5/1 with SkyBet, with French Champions PSG and Premier League rivals Manchester City also 5/1 at Paddypower. Chelsea are in the mix at 10/1, whilst a return to Barcelona is priced up at 16/1.
