Southampton v Liverpool Betting Preview: 21/10 Shot Looks Like Great Value

Southampton v Liverpool Betting Preview: 21/10 Shot Looks Like Great Value

Our 21/10 pick on Southampton v Liverpool forms a really nice double with Juventus tonight...

We got painfully unlucky with my first article back as Doncaster eased to victory over League Two promotion rivals Portsmouth, but an uninspired Barcelona side couldn't beat nine fucking man Athletic Bilbao to land the double.

Anyway, I'm totally over that now and in absolutely no way bitter about those Catalan shitehawks, so I'm back with another bet I really fancy as Liverpool travel to the south coast to take on Southampton.

Jurgen Klopp has reinvigorated Liverpool since taking the helm in October 2015 and will see the Mickey Mouse Cup as a great chance of grabbing his first taste of silverware with the club. He will also be boosted by the return of Phillipe Coutinho, who is expected to play a part from the bench.

Claude Puel won't be so upbeat, though, as his options are looking slightly short in almost every position, in a tournament where managers generally like to rotate.

He is without key first teamers in attack, midfield and defence, as Charlie Austin, Sofiane Boufal and Cedric Soares are sidelined through injury, as well as a couple of others who may have played a part. He is also without club captain Jose Fonte, who recently handed in a transfer request as he has aspirations of playing Europa League football for a slightly bigger team next season by joining Man Utd or Benfica.

This growing list of absentees won't do anything to improve Southampton's dwindling home form, so I'm willing to take the bet on them losing a third consecutive home game whilst conceding two goals or more.

Spurs and West Brom both managed to fire a hatful past the Saints, so Liverpool, who have scored nine goals in their last four away games, should be able to do the same. For that reason my selection for this match is going to be Liverpool to win and over 1.5 goals, which is available at 21/10 with Bet On Brazil.

To give our returns a nice little boost I'm going to double Liverpool up with Juventus to beat Atalanta in the Coppa Italia at 9/20. A £20 stake on the two will return £90.

Juventus have won 13 of their last 14 games against tonight's opponents, as well as 12 of their last 14 at home in all competitions - with the two games they didn't win coming in the Champions League.
