Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, who is reportedly going to earn £500,000 from his stint in the jungle, claims he is not desperate for work as he is set to appear on the upcoming series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

Redknapp, whose last job was in charge of Championship side Birmingham last year, revealed he isn't in it for the cash as he joked some of his players might want to see him struggle.

"I am not desperate for work, this is something different in my life," said the 71-year-old.

"Some of the players I have managed... when I go in the coffin trial, will hope it doesn't open up."

Redknapp also revealed he will struggle without wife Sandra, who he hates being away from after 54 years of marriage.

"That's the biggest problem I have got... We do everything together. I have been with Sandra for 54 years and hate being away from her," added the former Portsmouth gaffer.

Redknapp is 8/1 to be crowned 'King of the Jungle' trailing Torch Wood star John Barrowman, who is the clear front-runner at 3/1.

Fellow contestants, Anne Hegerty, the Governess from The Chase, and Sair Khan, known for Coronation Street, are also 8/1, while The Vamps singer James McVey and X Factor 2014 finalist Fleur East follow at 9/1 and 10/1 respectively. Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer is also 10/1.

Emily Atack, most famous for her role in The Inbetweeners, is 10/1, and Rita Simons, formerly Roxy in Eastenders, is 12/1.

While it is TV's DIY hero Nick Knowles who trails the lot at 14/1 to win the show.

Meanwhile, Southampton, another team formerly managed by Redknapp, have had a dig at the 71-year-old warning the ITV show to be careful he doesn't leave halfway for Strictly Come Dancing.

The joke stems back to Redknapp swapping the Saints for a second spell at Pompey back in 2005.

Elsewhere, Irish bookies have UFC's Conor McGregor as little as 10/1 to win the show, while former Geordie Shore cast member turned MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers is the same odds as Redknapp (8/1) to be crowned 'King of the Jungle.'
