Recent FA Cup Final Stats Suggest Value In Backing Late Drama

With the 2016/17 FA Cup final moments away, we decided to delve in to the last ten years of this great competition's finals to see what they can teach us about where the profit might lie this evening.

Recent history suggests that Chelsea will be crowned FA Cup champions today with the current Premier League champions appearing in no less than four finals in the last ten years, winning all four.

Antonio Conte's men are just 4/5 to triumph in 90 minutes but one of the most interesting trends in recent FA Cup finals is that six out of the last ten have been level at half time.

As a result of Chelsea's recent FA Cup success and the numerous slow starts to recent finals, we can assess that there's real value in punting on the draw at half time and Chelsea win at full time at 18/5 with Ladbrokes.

On top of that, four of the last seven finals have also been 0-0 going in to the break and the 21/10 on offer from the same bookie for the score to be 0-0 at half-time today is worth considering too.

The 2015/16, 2014/15 and 2012/13 cup final's didn't even see the first goal until after the 70th minute. If you fancy some late cup drama, you can back a first goal between 71-80 minutes at 18/1 or between 81 and full-time at 25/1, again with Ladbrokes.

Given the FA Cup final's penchant for slow starts in recent times, we also recommend backing the second half to be the half to finish with the most goals at 10/11.

Recommended bets:

Half-time Draw/Full-time Chelsea - 18/5

Second half to have most goals - 10/11
