Scotland are on the verge of qualifying for the first major tournament in almost two decades, according to William Hill.
The bookies now make Gordon Strachan's men just 3/1 to head to Russia next summer, having been as long as 33/1 before their victories in the international break. Group F rivals England's passaged is now assured and it looks virtually certain they will travel as group winners at 1/33.
William Hill's Joe Crilly commented; "Scotland looked dead and buried after the last set of international fixtures however Gordon Strachan and his side have channelled the spirit of William Wallace and are in a position to upset some of the bigger boys thanks to a couple of favourable results this past week."
England remain general 20/1 shots to win the World Cup next year, leaving The Three Lions in 8th place in the betting behind market leaders Germany (5/1), Brazil (6/1) and Spain (7/1). Optimistic members of the Tartan Army can back their men at a huge 1500/1 with qualification still in the balance.
