We're on the road to Royal Ascot...

Royal Ascot is very nearly upon us but there are four meetings today which can hopefully add to the Royal meeting coffers.

Racing takes place solely on the flat in Britain today with afternoon meetings at Carlisle and Wetherby, coupled with evening cards at Nottingham and Windsor.

Here are Danny Archer's selections...

2:00: Carlisle - Ghost Serge 4/5.

Archie Watson's two-year-old bolted up by seven lengths on his debut and he is expected to once again go close despite having to shoulder a penalty.

3:00: Carlisle - Exotic Guest 13/2 Each Way.

Represents a trainer and jockey in fine fettle and the seven-year-old roared back to form last time with a gutsy head success over course and distance. Previously rated as high as the mid 70s, he still retains the scope to recapture his old form now he has got his head in front.

3:30: Carlisle - Lucent Dream 4/1.

I backed John McConnell's gelding last time on his return to turf, but he was ultimately a pretty disappointing sixth. However, he might have needed a run to reacquaint himself with the surface and I'm willing to give him another chance as his pedigree suggests he should handle the turf and his trainer has a record of 3 wins from 4 runners in the last 14 days in Britain.

4:00: Carlisle - Full Of Promise 4/1 and Ralphy Boy 16/1 Each Way.

Richard Fahey's Full Of Promise lived up to his name with a fine second at Musselburgh last time and a reproduction of that run would see her go close. Third that day was Ralphy Boy and that was a real hint at a revival. I'm hopeful that he could recapture some of his best form here.

4:30: Carlisle - Contentment 6/4.

Has to transform maiden company into handicaps but she did the job nicely that day and the daughter of Cacique is certainly open to further improvement.

5:00: Carlisle - Solo Mission 5/4.

Punted off the boards at Yarmouth last time but was ultimately pretty disappointing as he finished a one-paced second. However, he should have improved and learnt a lot from that experience which makes him of strong interest off a mark of 69.

7:30: Nottingham - Worlds His Oyster 5/2.

John Quinn's four-year-old invariably struggles to maintain the same level of form but it was a decent effort to finish third in a respectable handicap at Chester last month. A mark of 82 looks workable and he is taken to land the spoils.

8:00: Nottingham - Whitkirk 9/4.

Jedd O'Keeffe is a very decent handler and this son of Iffraaj has run with credit on both starts this term. This extended mile should suit and he looks to have a good chance at the weights.

8:30: Nottingham - Lugano 4/6.

Sir Mark Prescott has got two quickfire wins out of this scopey four-year-old who kept on steadily on Thursday to land the spoils. Luke Morris is back onboard today and he should defy another small rise in the weights.

4:45: Wetherby - Orientelle 10/1 Each Way.

Looks interesting based on fine third at a big price in maiden company at Beverley last time. Now switches to handicaps and has the addition of cheekpieces which could hopefully eke out further improvement.

5:45: Windsor - Hope Is High 7/4.

John Berry's charge battled on well at Yarmouth last time to score and she is entitled to go close again with a handy 5lb claimer on board.

8:45: Windsor - Prosecution 5/4.

Very well punted this morning, Hughie Morrison's charge shaped ok when fourth in a handicap last time and he should improve for that reappearance under his belt.
