ODDSbible MMA: UFC Stockholm Betting Preview

ODDSbible MMA: UFC Stockholm Betting Preview

There's some brilliant Bank Holiday action.

The UFC returns to Sweden for the first time in just over two years, with Swedish MMA hero Alexander Gustafsson set to headline yet again.

Good news for European fans, with the fight card beginning at 3PM on UFC Fight Pass before switching over to BT Sport from 4PM, meaning you can enjoy a bank holiday treat of MMA at a reasonable time!

Gustafsson will be looking to reaffirm his position as a top contender at light-heavyweight taking on perennial challenger Glover Teixeira at the Globe Arena in Stockholm.

Misha Cirkunov and Volkan Oezdemir do battle in the co-main event in a fight that also has implications in the upper regions of the light-heavyweight division.

With the football season coming to a conclusion, our man @DRussellMMA looks at the best bets to make on a Sunday night in Stockholm.

Alexander Gustafsson v Glover Teixeira

Gustafsson to win by KO/TKO/DQ - 5/4 at BetVictor

There aren't many bigger stars in European MMA than Alexander Gustafsson, nor is there a more likeable person in the sport.

He has twice challenged for the title and lost out narrowly on the both occasions to Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier respectively and you could argue that with a win this evening, he may face the loser of that bout, with close friend Jimi Manuwa seemingly next in line.

Glover Teixeira stands in his way in Stockholm, giving up a three-inch reach advantage to the Swedish native. It will be interesting to see if Glover can take Gustafsson's power following his career-changing KO by Anthony Johnson back at UFC 202.

I expect Gustafsson to push the pace early and stop Teixeira in the first couple of rounds.

Abdul Razak Alhassan v Omari Akhmedov

Akhmedov to win by decision - 6/1 at BetVictor

I was rather surprised to see Akhmedov at relatively large odds, considering his opponent holds just one win in the octagon over Conor McGregor's stable mate, Charlie Ward.

Abdul Razak Alhassan managed to stop Ward inside just one minute at UFC Belfast, but I feel Akhmedov is a big step up for the Ghanaian.

The Dagestan-born welterweight will look to utilise his takedowns against Razak, who is making just his eighth professional MMA appearance.

Expect Akhmedov to grind the fight to the mat, and wrestle his way to a decision victory. At 6/1 this represents huge value!

Misha Cirkunov v Volkan Oezdemir

Cirkunov to win by unanimous decision - 4/1 at BetVictor

The co-main event is a little bizarre from the outset, with Volkan Oezdemir finding himself the fifth ranked light-heavyweight in the world after just one octagon victory over Ovince Saint Preux.

Misha Cirkunov is 4-0 inside the UFC and has won eight fights in a row. The Latvian appeared to be leaving the UFC after defeating Nikita Krylov, until he signed a new six-fight deal in March.

Cirkunov is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, but at just 10/11 to win by submission, I don't think this represents great value.

It is the toughest fight of each fighter's respective careers and I think with only three rounds, there is a good chance we could see this head to the judges' scorecards.

I expect Cirkunov to shoot for the takedown regularly and outlast his opponent on the ground.
